In February 2013, while on a short term mission trip to Ghana, West Africa, God spoke His love for the people of Ghana into my heart. It has changed my life forever! This would not be totally out of the ordinary, except for the fact that I am in my “golden years” and have never felt a calling to missions before. I was shocked, over whelmed, confused, amazed, humbled, honored, and challenged to name some emotions I initially encountered. But as I prayed through, I realized God wasn’t kidding and He doesn’t make mistakes. Although I may never understand (until I get to Heaven) why He would choose me at my age with no experience, I trust, believe; and will obey Him.
So here I am, nearly two years later with some training, much prayer, and lots of faith and trust, leaving for Ghana at the end of December, 2014. I am fully convinced this is God’s plan, purpose and will for my life – to love and serve Him in the work He is doing in Ghana. I believe He has already gone ahead to prepare the path He has placed before me. I go with much excitement and anticipation along with fear.
If I come to mind, please lift me in prayer as I seek to please God and make a difference for the Kingdom. I truly believe His power can be made known through my weakness and obedience. May His glory be spread to all unreached people of the world by all of us called to The Great Commission.
